Hormone Imbalances in Women

I wanted to share my story in hopes of helping other women that may have the same problem and not be aware of it. Puberty came at a young age for me and was never easy right up until my hysterectomy in 2007. I had many symptoms of a hormone imbalance but could not find a doctor that would help me. It wasn’t until last year that I finally found relief.

Hormones are a chemical messenger that tells the body what functions to do. Female hormones play a crucial role in regulating the ability for a woman to bear children as well as their sex drive, moods and regulating their menstrual cycle. When everything is in balance the body functions efficiently and life is good. But the smallest shift in the balance can have considerable effects on bodily functions with mild to serious symptoms.

  • Symptoms of female hormone imbalance
  • Acne or oily skin
  • Bloating
  • Bone loss
  • Decreased fertility
  • Depression
  • Excess facial and body hair
  • Hot flashes
  • Heavy or painful periods
  • Irregular periods
  • Irritability
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Loss of scalp hair
  • Low libido
  • Memory lapses
  • Mood swings
  • Nervousness
  • Night sweats
  • Poor concentration
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Tender or fibrocystic breasts
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Weight gain

As well as endometriosis, breast disease and menstrual irregularities.

These symptoms can occur at any stage in life, many times symptoms become more prominent during the reproductive years (early twenties up to mid forties) However, most of the hormonal imbalance symptoms which occur during the reproductive age are attributed to dietary and lifestyle issues and need to be managed appropriately, to ensure that they don’t interfere with the overall health of the female.

In 2007 my symptoms got so bad that my OB/GYN recommended I have a partial hysterectomy at the age of 38. I thought this would solve all my problems but it was the beginning of others. After my hysterectomy, my original symptoms disappeared but new ones began to emerge like hot flashes, night sweats, and low libido. That’s when the doctor informed me that this procedure could send me right into menopause! My symptoms never really went away just the ones that came with my menstrual cycle. I did not want to go on hormone replacement because of the possible side effects so I tried black cohosh for my symptoms and it worked for awhile but then my hot flashes came back. I added more soy to my diet but that didn’t work either. It wasn’t until I found VitaWomen that my symptoms finally disappeared and haven’t come back since.

VitaWoman comes from all-natural ingredients like folic acid, Vitamin B 12, St. John’s Wort and Valeriana – as well as plant derived estrogen alternatives like extracts of licorice, Black Cohosh, Dong Quai, Soy and Vitex Agnus Castus (chaste berry). VitaWoman helps restore your natural equilibrium whether you are experiencing hormonal imbalance, menopause or just battling the monthly discomfort of PMS.
